Students are taught that every cell in the human body has the same DNA. Contrary to this dogmatic view, humans are genetic mosaics. Somatic mutation accrual throughout an individual’s lifetime changes genomes in every cell. These mutations alter cellular functions over time, contributing to a variety of diseases.
